Priyanka Raina Biography

Priyanka Raina is a film director known for many award winning short films. She is also a film critic who reviews films for Filmy Town, Bharat Cine TV Writers, Universal Newsline & Omniscent Entertainment. She has also worked as an assistant director for a few Bollywood films like Dal Mein Kuch Kaala hai (2012), which marked the debut of Pakistani actress Veena Malik. Raina has made a few short films like Azaad Bharat (2010), Clean and Green India (2011), Dum (2012), Who is responsible (2013) and Zindagi (2014). In 2013 she won Best Short Film Maker Award at KAF Business Awards. She is an actress turned director.

 

She was born in Panvel, Mumbai in the year 1982. She was born to a defense officer, Trilok Chand Raina. She wanted to become a software engineer during her childhood and also completed her Engineering in IT. However she moved to entertainment field. She started off her professional career as an actress before moving behind the camera. She was seen in a small role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, the longest running Indian TV series and in the year 2008 she made her film debut through a Bhojpuri film - “Raghuveera”, directed by Parag Patil. She also worked as a stage actress with EKJUTE CAMP and the famous Prithvi Theater.

 

She learnt film direction under Director Avtar Bhogal, while doing the post-production of Honor Killings in 2010. Same year she made her first short film - Azaad Bharat. She made a short Film Zindagi with Kapil Sharma starring Yuvraaj Parashar and Sahila Chaddha. She loves cycling and has participated in cycling events. Apart from short films, she has also done ad films of Nakshatra and Apna bazaar, and many more. Her short film ‘Dum’ was launched by the legendary actor Manoj Kumar.
