Pritish Nandy Biography 
Pritish Nandy is a famous film producer, writer and media and television personality. Nandy founded Pritish Nandy Communications in 1993 and still remains its non-executive chairman. He is also known as a politician and journalist. As a member of Siva Sena, he has served as a member of Rajya Sabha in 1998. As a noted producer, he has produced many Hindi movies and television serials and as a poet, his works are published in English. He has also translated many Indian books to English. As a journalist, he has served as the Publishing Director of ‘The Times of India’ from 1982 to 1991, and Editor in Chief of ‘The Illustrated Weekly of India’ from 1983 to 1991. Nandy opened India's first cyber café in 1996 at Hotel Leela Kempinski in Mumbai. He is also an artist and painter and has conducted exhibitions on his paintings, drawings and calligraphy.
Pritish Nandy was born in Bhagalpur to a Bengali family. His brother Ashis Nandy is a political psychologist, a social theorist and a critic. His childhood and adulthood days were spent at Kolkata, where his mother worked as a school teacher. His education was completed at La Martiniere College and Presidency College, Kolkata. Nandy's first book of poems Of Gods and Olives was published in 1967. He published 14 volumes of poems in the 1970’s. In 1977, he received Padma shri for his contribution to Indian literature.
With 1980’s, he turned a full-time journalist and took a break from writing. Later he published his next book in 2010, after a long break of about 3 decades. As a publisher, he has been associated with many leading magazines of the country. He founded Pritish Nandy Communications in 1993. The first show was ‘The Pritish Nandy Show’ which aired on Doordarshan followed by numerous shows. As a Bollywood film producer, Chameli, Jhankaar Beats, Just married, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Kaante and Raat Gayi Baat Gayi are among the noticed ones.
