Prithvi Shaw Biography

Hailed as the ‘next Sachin Tendulkar’, Prithvi Shaw is one of the bright young prospects of cricket emerging out of Mumbai school scene. This 16-year old boy has been compared to the bating legend Sachin Tendulkar repeatedly since 2013. He made an astonishing 546 runs while playing for Rizvi Springfield against St Francis D'Assisi Borivali in an inter-school match for the prestigious Harris Shield in November 2013 at the age of 14. Since then this young boy has been in spotlight. Prithvi hit 85 boundaries and 5 sixes in the match played at the Azad Maidan and wrote a new world record becoming the first schoolboy cricketer to hit a 500 plus score in an official inter-school match. He broke Jaffer's record of 498 runs scored against IES Raja Shivaji School in 2010-11.

His full name is Prithvi Pankaj Shaw. He was born on 9 November 1999 in Thane Maharashtra. He lost his mother when he was four years old. His father enrolled him at Virar cricket academy when he was only three. In 2010 Shaw received a contract from AAP Entertainment and so the family moved to Mumbai. He is being sponsored by Indian Oil. A team member of Rizvi Springfield, he has captained the team for two Harris Shield titles in 2012 and 2013. Currently he receives training from Rajeev Pathak at MIG Cricket Club where Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun is also playing. He also plays for the cricket club.

In 2012 he played for Cheadle Hulme School in Manchester where he excelled as an all-rounder scoring 1,446 runs and 68 wickets in a season. He captains the Mumbai U-16 team since the age of 14. This child prodigy has delivered some unbelievable performances since then. His record-breaking innings of 546 in the Harris Shield in 2013 brought him to spotlight. Once Sachin Tendulkar stopped by to watch him playing. In between 2010 and 2013 this young boy smashed more than 4000 runs and is still continuing with his tremendous performance.

He is an all-rounder - a right hand batsman and right-arm off-spin bowler. His father shut down his business to concentrate on bringing Prithvi up. Thus young Prithvi is the breadwinner of his family. He has played for Gloucestershire second team, just one level below first class cricket.
