Prem (Tamil Film Actor) Biography

Prem is a noted Tamil and Kannada film actor known for portraying supporting roles onscreen. He gained success through small screen roles as well. He was also the winner of the reality dance show Jodi Number One Season 1. He also served as Executive Committee member of Nadigar Sangam in 2015. The popular singer Harish Raghavendra is his brother-in-law. Though he has been associated with big screen for the past 12 years, he received the success through small screen roles. Most recently he was seen playing the role of Police officer Simon in 2017 blockbuster, Vikram Vedha. His role as Madhavan’s best pal played a pivot role in the film. It’s one of his decent performances in the recent times.

He hails from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He made his film debut in the second half of 1990s and was seen in the movie, Nattupura Pattu in 1996 in a brief role. Later he made his debut as lead hero in 2005 film, ‘Kalaignarin Kannamma’. Since then he has been active in film industry, yet he got real recognition through small screen. Though he was not comfortable for dancing in ‘Kalaignarin Kannamma’, he stunned everyone after he won reality dance show Jodi Number One Season 1. As an actor he worked with Malavika in many films, and has also worked with Meena, where he played lead role in Kalaignarin Kannamma.

As a television actor, he got his initial break from K. Balachander. ‘Kalaignarin Kannamma’ was his first film in lead role and he was casted opposite Meena. The film was based on a television serial, Annamalai in which he acted. He was recommended by famous politician Dr. M. Karunanidhi, a great patron of arts, who was impressed by his performance in the television series. But the movie was a flop. Prem was a popular face on the small screen, and Manaivi was his last work on small screen format.
