Pravin Bhatt, also known as Praveen Bhatt is a noted cinematographer, director and screenwriter of Bollywood. His career spans for more than 35 years from 1970s to latest 2010’s. He is the favourite cinematographer of Mahesh Bhatt camp and has captured a few hits with his camera. The most successful movies of this association are Arth, Saaransh, Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee, Hum hain rahi pyar ke, Sir, Janam, Naam, Sadak and Zakhm. His other successful films as a cinematographer include - Masoom, Badalte Rishtey, Himalay Ki Godmein, Hira Aur Patthar, Umrao Jaan, Kaalia, Lahu Ke Do Rang (1978), Aitbaar, Foot path, Elaan, Deewane Huye Paagal, Jurm, Red: The Dark Side, Ankahee, Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee, Speed, 1920, Khud-Daar, Sultanat, Joshilay, Aashique, Kaash, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Awara Paagal Deewana, Haunted 3D, Raaz, Kasoor,  Agneepath, Yodha, Saathi, Kamla, Aitbaar, Yaadom ki kasam and Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswati.

 

Apart from Mahesh Bhatt camp, he has done camera work for Vikram Bhatt too. Movies include – Raaz, Kasoor, Aap mujhe ache lagne lage, Dangerous ishq, Shaapit, 1920, Haunted 3D and Raaz 3D. With Gulshan Kumar, he has given amazing camera work for mega blockbuster hits like Aashique and Dil hai ki manta nahin. Umrao Jaan and Agnipath are his other memorable films. Pravin Bhatt has directed a few movies also - Khoon Bahaa Ganga Mein, Bhavna and Ek Hi Maqsad.   

 

Pravin Bhatt is the son of film maker of yesterdays – Vijay Bhatt. Popular film maker of today – Vikram Bhatt who has directed thrillers like Raaz, Ghulam and Kasoor is the son of Pravin Bhatt. Pravin Bhatt started his career as a cameraman in 1960 with the movie, Maa Baap. His second movie was Hariyali Aur Rasta (1962) directed by his father Vijay Bhatt. He has also done the camera work of his father’s another super hit movie – Himalay ki gode mein in the year 1965. Both these movies featured Manoj Kumar and Mala Sinha in the leading roles. Later he began to work for other directors and from 90’s onwards, for his son’s movies too. Perhaps he is the only cinematographer in the industry who has done work for both father and his son, thus connecting three generations together in one shot!
