Prateeksha Lonkar Biography

Prateeksha Lonkar is a popular television and film actress associated with Bollywood and Marathi film industry. She has also acted in many television serials belonging to Hindi and Marathi languages. She is associated with entertainment industry since mid-1990s.  Among Bollywood directors, she frequently worked with film director for the highly acclaimed movies - Iqbal, Dor, Aashayein and Mod. Other noted Bollywood works include – Gudgudee, Meerabai Not Out, Vaada Raha, Wanted, Heroes, Mumbai Cutting, Khanna & Iyer, Hattrick, Nanhe Jaisalmer etc. She played the role of Nanhe Jaisalmer’s mother in the movie Nanhe Jaisalmer. Lonkar is married to Marathi screenwriter Prashant Dalv. She is also associated with Marathi stage plays.

Lonkar was born in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. She was born to a doctor. Her mother was a teacher. Since school days she was interested in arts and theatre and for the same reason, after schooling she graduated in arts. Later she moved to Mumbai to work in television serials and movies. She was first seen in a small serial in Marathi Doordarshan serial, Dinmaan in 1990. Since 1995, she is actively associated with television and occasionally works in movies.

She debut into Hindi television serials through Naya Nukkad in 1995 and was also seen in two episodes of ‘All the Best’, musical countdown show on DD Metro the same year. Marshall, Byomkesh Bakshi and Five Days Thriller are some of Doordarshan Hindi serials later. With late 1990s, she became quite active with Marathi Doordarshan serials. She played the female lead of Damini in the popular Marathi series, Damini, which was aired for almost four years. And this particular show made her immensely popular among Doordarshan audience. Bandini, Anubhuti, Songadya Bajya, Kalat Naklat etc were her noted Marathi serials on Doordarshan. Later she got associated with other television channels as well. Currently she portrays the role of Poonam Chaturvedi in Thapki Pyar Ki aired on Colors TV.
