Prasanth Parameswaran Biography

Prasanth Parameswaran is a Kerala cricketer from Cherthala. Started off his IPL debut with Kerala Tuskers in 2011, he has been associated with Royal Challengers Bangalore during 2012-2013 season, and with Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2014. He is the first Kerala player to award Man of the match title in IPL debut. He is also regular with Renji matches, as a part of Kerala team. Nicknamed as Puli, while literally means leopard in Malayalam, he is a left-arm medium pace bowler and a right-handed batsman for his team. Prasanth was a good hammer-thrower at school, and regularly participated in school athletic meets. He is married to south Indian film actress Shivani Bhai since 2011, and the couple has one son.

 

Prasanth was born on 30 May 1985 in Kayippuram, Cherthala of Alapuzha district, Kerala. Known to be a good hammer-thrower since school days, he regularly participated in Kerala's high-profile school athletics meet. He did his graduation at CMS College Kottayam, and it was during this time he fully concentrated on to cricket. He also represented his college for several cricket matches during those days. To receive better training in cricket, he shifted to Kochi and continued his studies at St. Albert's College. He started training at BPCL Kochi Refineries Cricket Academy, where he was trained by former Ranji coach P. Balachandran. Very soon he entered Kerala cricket team, and also represented Ranji matches.

 

He has been a part of cricket team of Indian Overseas Bank Chennai and also South Zone cricket team for Duleep and Deodhar Trophy competitions before he was bought by Kochi Tuskers in 2011 for 20 lakh rupees. His over to Chris Gayle in one of the matches of IPL 2011 stood as a most expensive in the history of T20 cricket. But in his maiden match, he managed to take the wicket of Virendra Sehwag in his maiden over and also won Man of the Match award.
