Pranav Dhanawade Biography

Pranav Dhanawade is an Indian cricketer who became the first one to score 1000 runs in an innings in any form of cricket. The 15-year old boy from Mumbai entered the record books as he set a new world record 1009 not out from 323 balls during the HT Bhandari Cup inter-school cricket tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association on January 4th, 2015. His outstanding and epic innings include - 129 fours and 59 sixes and he remained not out to sail his team to an innings win. He made his innings against Arya Gurukul School and currently holds the record for the highest individual score in any form of representative cricket. He broke a one-century old record that was previously owned by AEJ Collins' 628 not out for Clark’s House against North Town in Clifton College in 1899 in the UK.

 

Pranav Dhanawade belongs to Kalyan, Mumbai. Pranav is born to a middle class family to an auto rickshaw driver. He has been playing cricket since the age of 5. Mobin Sheikh has been his coach. A wicket-keeper batsman, Pranav’s idol is none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who himself is a wicket-keeper batsman. Currently Harish Sharma is his coach. He just played a natural game in the historic match, starting off slowly scoring only 45 runs before lunch and once he reached 350, he targeted to break the records of Mumbai boys Sarfaraz Khan (498) and Armaan Jaffer (498) who created headlines in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

 

Pranav became the first batsman of the world to face the nervousness of 990’s!!!! Standing on crease for 395 minutes in two days, he broke a 116-year world record and has become the first batsman ever to score 1000 runs in an innings. He broke the world record of Arthur Collins who made 628, on Monday 4th January 2016 in an Under-16 interschool match and made the new record on Tuesday. Pranav was unbeaten on 652 on Monday. Arya Gurukul School eventually lost the match by a huge margin of 1382 runs, which itself is a record. He was hailed for his outstanding innings by none other than ‘God of Cricket’ – Sachin Tendulkar.
