Pramod Muthalik Biography

Pramod Muthalik is a politician and the chief of the Rashtriya Hindu Sena, the parent organisation of the Sri Ram Sena, started by him. Remained a controversial leader for controversial statements, he was a Bajrang Dal member in his early life. When he was expelled from the organization, he formed the Karnataka unit of the Shiv Sena. However quit Shiv Senain 2006  over the Belgaum border dispute, and then formed Sri Ram Sena. He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as an Independent Candidate in two constituencies of Karnataka and lost both.

 

Pramod is known for his conflicts with the ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party. During 2009 Lok Sabha elections, he campaigned against the party, resulting in his ban from the city of Bangalore. Although he joined the Karnataka unit of BJP in March 2014, he was forced to quit following heavy criticism. He called the BJP the 'Bharatiya Jesus Party’ and his statement brought him to limelight. His followers also call him, Pramod Bhaiyya and Pramod Ji with respect.

 

He was born in Hukkeri in the Belgaum district of Karnataka in 1963. He is unmarried. He joined the RSS in 1975, and since then he is closely associated with the Hindu organisation. He became the convener for South India for the Bajrang Dal in 2004, and since then he remained one of the celebrated political figures from south India. Many of his statements caught into controversies also.

 

Many cases are registered against him, related to making inflammatory speeches, inciting hatred between religious groups, and for conducting violence in the state of Karnataka. Muthalik is an admirer of Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, and regularly attends an annual function in Pune to mark the death anniversary of this assassin.
