Prajesh Sen Biography

Prajesh Sen is an Indian journalist and film director, best known for his maiden directorial venture, Captain (2018) starring Jayasurya in the lead role. It was a biopic about V. P. Sathyan, former captain of the Indian national football team. The movie opened to overwhelming response from critics and audience and was a box office hit. Now he is set for his Bollywood debut with yet another biopic about former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. The film, titled 'Rocketry the Nambi Effect’ stars actor Madhavan playing the title role.

 

Prajesh Sen was born in Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram District, Kerala. He was born on 29 May 1979 as the son of Gopi. N and Lathika T. K. He has one brother who works as a still photographer in film industry. Currently he resides in his hometown. Sen started career as a journalist and media person with All India Radio, Thiruvananthapuram. He started off as the casual reporter of Prabhathabheri (Morning Show) of Akashvani. Then he moved to Madhyamam newspaper as a journalist. Sen is also an author who published four books titled 'Cradles for Hire', 'Manji- Story of a Test tube Orphan', 'Finger of Ekalavya' and 'Molecules'.

 

He is one of the top journalists from Kerala belonging to present generation. He is a recipient of numerous awards as well. He won the prestigious Ramnath Goenka award for excellence in journalism in 2013. G. Venu Gopal award from Trivandrum Press Club, SBT Media Awards 2009 for Humanitarian Writing, K. C. Madhava Kurup Award (2010) by Calicut Press Club for Investigative Journalism, Solidarity Media Award 2006 for Best Rural Reporting, V. Karunakaran Nambiar Award 2008 by Kerala Press Academy for Best Report on health topics etc are a few more.

 

Once the story of a little boy suspected to be the victim of faulty clinical trials published in a newspaper caught Prajeshsen's attention. He got haunted and spent 6 months for its investigation. He knocked doors of big pharmaceutical companies in major cities in south India to understand the why and how of clinical trials. Later he submitted a report at high court. High Court issued an order to stop clinical trials in Kerala. Later, the Supreme Court also banned all unethical clinical trials in the country while hearing a PIL about the same issue. He has conducted a photo exhibition named 'Dead Slow' across Kerala to create awareness about road accidents among people.
