Pradeep Kalipurayath Biography

Pradeep Kalipurayath is an ad filmmaker best known for his association with advertisement world. He is a cinematographer and filmmaker who makes ad films and corporate films, mostly in south Indian ad industry. He shot to fame after he directed a music video featuring India’s first Malayalam rock band ‘Avial’ in 2005, and since then he is at the top in advertisement media. Since 2006, he makes ad films, documentaries etc under the banner Poorman Productions. He has also worked as a cinematographer for a few Indian English films.

Pradeep Kalipurayath was born on 12 October 1981 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His family originally hails from Palakkad, Kerala, and he was born to Ramakrishnan Nallur and Renuka Kalipurayath. Since young he got attracted to photography, a passion of his father. His school and college education were completed from Chennai itself, where he was brought up. He completed graduation in Visual Communications, and then started off as a freelance assistant director to ad film makers, as he was inspired to join the same stream. Though he got associated with ad world for a couple of years, he got the real breakthrough through a music video of “Avial” brand. There was no turning back after that.

He went on to direct many documentaries, ad films and also worked with corporate sector. He was inspired by the works of Rajeev Menon from college days, and has worked as an assistant under him. He edited the music video Nada Nada, which gave him enough confidence to pursue an independent career. He has directed more than 50 television snippets for Doordarshan show, ‘Nalam Kaane’. He has also directed many TV shows later.
