Prabhu Solomon Biography

Prabhu Solomon is a very successful director of Tamil cinema at present, who rose to prominence after the success of his movie, Mynaa released in 2010. The movie starred Vidharth and Amala Paul in the lead roles and was one of the highest grossers of the year. Currently Solomon is remaking this tragic love story to Bollywood. He went on to direct critically acclaimed Kumki and Kayal. This director is known for choosing film locations with scenic beauty, like greenery, forests and waterfalls.

Prabhu Solomon hails from Neyveli and was born in 1969. He had a passion of movies since his younger days and used to watch movies from theatres. After graduation, he moved to Chennai. He worked in Collywood since 1991, doing stunt double roles and other works. Since 1995, he worked as an assistant director under Sundar and has worked with him for national award winning movies like Kathal kottai. In 1995, when his mentor worked out of a project, Prabhu got opportunity to complete a movie - Murai Mappillai (1995). Kannodu Kanbathellam (1999) was his debut movie as a screenwriter and director. The movie was offered by Anbalaya Films for whom he finished the project, Murai Mappillai (1995). The movie starred Arjun, Sonali Bendre and Suchindra and received positive response from critics. However the movie failed at box office.

His second venture Usire (2001) in Kannada was also a box office failure. Later he directed movies like King (2002) with Vikram, Kokki, Lee, Ladam etc and waited for a break in his career. Mynaa just happened in 2010, establishing him as a successful director of Tamil cinema. In 2012, he produced Sattai and Faisal is his upcoming flick as a producer.
