Posani Krishna Murali Biography

Posani Krishna Murali is an actor, film maker and screenwriter associated with Tollywood. As a scriptwriter he has penned over 150 films and has also directed many commercial hits, though criticized for eccentricity. He has also tried his luck in politics by competing in state legislative assembly elections from Chilakaluripet constituency in 2009, but faced a loss. Film directors - Boyapati Srinu and Koratala Siva are his cousins.

He was born in Secunderabad in 1958 to Posani Subba Rao in a middle class family. He has two sisters and one brother. He struggled a lot during his younger days financially and his father was a small time employee in Pedakakani who desired his children to become well-educated. Posani Krishna Murali completed his school education from village and later completed both graduation and PG. He had a brief stint to student politics in those days. He worked in Margadarsi Chit Fund, but moved to Chennai distressed by the death of his father. He worked as an assistant to scriptwriter Paruchuri Gopala Krishna and completed M. Phil from Presidency College during this time.

It was one of those days when Ram Gopal Varma asked him to write dialogues for one of his films. But Murali declined the offer stating that he still need to learn a lot before accepting an assignment, which impressed Varma a lot. He worked as an assistant dialogue writer under Paruchuri Brothers for 5 years and 100 films. In 1992, he wrote dialogues and script for the movie, Police Brothers starting his independent career.

Once again Ram Gopal Varma asked him write dialogues for his movie, Gaayam in 1992, which he accepted. Varma also referred his name to many leading film makers of the industry including Akkineni Nagarjuna. Chiranjeevi's Alluda Majaka directed by E. V. V. Satyanarayana was his real breakthrough and he went one to become a leading scriptwriter after that. Pavithra Bandham, Thaali, Preminchukundam Raa, Pellichesukundam, Gokulamlo Seetha, Sivayya,Ravanna and Master are some of the scripts which placed him in the top slot of writers in the early 2000s.
