Pavan Malhotra Biography

Pavan Malhotra is a Hindi film and television actor who has been active in Doordarshan serials and ads during 1980’s. He mostly appeared in supporting roles in movies as well as television. He has been one of the most familiar faces of television during 1980’s, when Doordarshan was the only source for entertainment, except cinema. He regularly appeared in ads as well as television serials. He started with television industry as an assistant for TV series, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984). Saeed Akhtar Mirza’s TV series on Doordarshan, Nukkad (1986) marked his small screen debut. Pankaj Parashar's Ab Ayega Mazaa released in 1984 marked his big screen debut. He is married to Aparnaa Malhotra.

He was born on 2 July 1958 in Panipat, Haryana. He graduated in Arts from Delhi University and moved to the world of theatre and acting. Then he entered televise industry assisting Kundan Shah in a popular sitcom of 1980’s - Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. It was one of the first sitcoms of Indian television which was a sponsored program, whose dialogues are popular still now. Nukkad in 1986 marked his small screen debut. 2 years earlier, he had debut big screen, doing a small role in Mazaa. Khamosh, Bagh Bahadur and Salim Langde Pe Mat Ro are his other filmy appearances during 1980’s.

He appeared in Bollywood movies like Fakir, Pardes, jab we met, Bhag Mika bhag and Earth. Telugu movie – Aithe is still regarded as one of his most memorable performances. He played negative role in 2003 released movie for which he received Nandi Special Jury Award and Filmfare Best Villain Award (Telugu). His acclaimed role of Tiger Memon in Black Friday (2004) and Telugu movie - Anukokunda Oka Roju as a Tantrik are other noted film appearances. Most recently he was seen in Ek Thi Diyan, where he played the role of a professor and father of Emraan Hashmi. He also acted in TV series Zameen Aasmaan (1995), Alag Alag and Partho Mitra's Patang on Doordarshan.
