Parmeet Sethi Biography

Parmeet Sethi is a Bollywood actor, director and successful television actor. As a film actor, one of his earliest noted roles was supporting actor (negative) in blockbuster Dilwale dulhaniya le jaayenge, where he played the role of Punjabi fiancée of Kajol – Kuljith. Despite having a charming personality, he is most successful for negative shaded roles than positive ones. He is married to successful film and television actress, Archana Puran Singh and together they have appeared in many television shows like Nehle pe dehla and Nach baliye. As a television actor, his noted roles are Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat – Kutumb, Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin and Mayka. He has also written the script and directed one Bollywood movie – Badshah Company starring Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Meiyang Chang. This movie is remembered most for the makeover of Anushka Sharma from a traditional Indian girl to a modern girl.

Parmeet was born on December 11, 1966 in New Delhi. He passed out of Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. He got married to Archana Puran Singh in 1992, 5 years older than him. "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” released in 1995 gave him big break to Bollywood. It gave him a ‘Punjabi boy’ status too. Later he appeared in Ajay Devgn, Sonali and Madhoo starrer Diljale, released in 1996. Though he got a lot of offers from Bollywood and Punjabi, he became selective as his main aim was to become a director. His dream came true in 2009 when Badshah Company was released. He wrote the entire script of the movie in just 6 days. He also starred in the critically acclaimed Punjabi movie - Des Hoyaa Pardes.

Parmeet has appeared as the host of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and participated in Nach Baliye 2005 aside his wife, though got eliminated. He has also acted in television serials - Detective Omkar Nath, Sujata, Maika, Dastaan, Kurukshetra and Ruby Duby Hub Dub.
