Parambrata Chatterjee Biography

ParambrataChatterjee is a Bengali film actor and director worked in a few Bollywood films as well. He shot to fame portraying the signature role of police inspector SatyakiSinha in the mystery thriller, Kahani where he shared screen space with VidyaBalan. He has earlier shared screen space with Vidya in her debut flick – BhaloTheko, long back in 2003. 

He was earlier associated with Bengali films and tele serials before getting his big break in Bollywood. He was last seen in Bollywood movies – Sold and Gang of Ghosts. He played the pivot role of film director, to whom Sharman Joshi narrates the film script in the comedy movie - Gang of Ghosts and was well appreciated. He has also directed a few Benagli movies and television serials. He is the grandson of famous filmmaker RitwikGhatak.

ParambrataChatterjee was born on 27 June 1981 in Kolkata. Both his parents are film critics. Highly acclaimed film makerRitwikGhatak was his maternal grandfather. His childhood days were spent in Kolkata where he completed his studies and later completed graduation from Jadavpur University. He took Master’s in Film and TV Production from Bristol University, UK. He entered films in the early 2000s and was associated with television serials and tele films as well. BombaiyerBombete in 2003 was his first release, followed by BhaloTheko – the first released movie of actress VidyaBalan. HemanterPakhi,Shubhodrishti,Nishijapon and The Bong connection are some of his early releases. 

Jiyo Kaka (2011) starringRaima Sen and RudranilGhosh marked his directorial debut, followed by HawaBodol and Lorai. Chotushkone and ChayaManush are his latest Bengali releases as an actor.
