Syed Badr-ul Hasan Khan Bahadur, better known by his screen name Pappu Polyester is a popular Bollywood actor best known for his comic roles. He has also done grey shaded and character roles on screen. He has also done roles on television and is a classical dancer too. He passed away in February 2019. As a film actor, Jodha Akbar is one of his most famous roles. This renowned artiste in television, films, and theatres has worked for over 30 years. ‘Phool Aur Angaar’, ‘Badal’, ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’, ‘Mann’, ‘Tumse Achcha Kaun’, ‘Farishtey’, ‘Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage’, ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ etc are other major works.

Syed Badr-ul Hasan Khan Bahadur is related to the tenth Nawab of Awadh, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. He was a descendant of Wajid Ali Shah. As a television actor his role of Maharaja of Mysore in The Sword of Tipu Sultan in 1990, aired on Doordarshan was one of his early noted roles. This role not only gave him the first big break as an actor, but also awarded him with National Award for Best Supporting Actor for acting in TV series. Years later, he appeared in a historic film, Jodha Akbar co-starring Hrithik Roshan. His supporting role as Mulla Do-Piyaza was also well received.

In the 1990s he played numerous supporting roles in Bollywood, apart from TV shows and stage plays. Mostly he was noticed for comic roles. His body language and facial expressions established him as a comedian. He is a recipient of honorary doctorate degree in acting from Ambedkar University, and also an award from Birju Maharaj for his skills as a classical dancer. Though he was a versatile classical dancer, he never got opportunity to showcase his dancing talent.
