Paoli Dam Biography

Paoli Dam is a successful television and film actress. In 2012, she played lead role in Bollywood controversial movie, Hate Story. It was her debut movie and later she appeared in Vikram Bhatt's Ankur Arora Murder Case, directed by Sohail Tatari. She appeared in the role of Kajori Sen, Public Prosecutor. She has been a part of Bengali television serials such as Tithir Atithi and Sonar Harin. In 2004, she debut film world with Teen Yaari Katha, directed by Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha. But the movie was only released in 2012. Her first released movie was Agnipariksha, directed by Rabi Kinagi. She was the first Indian actress to walk the carpet as an actress in a film shown at the festival at Canes. She got the opportunity to walk the red carpet as the heroine of a Bengali film and hence she chose Bengali traditional sari for red carpet walk.

Dam was born in Kolkata to Amol and Papiya Dam. She did schooling at Loreto School in Bowbazar. She graduated in Chemistry from Vidyasagar College of the University of Calcutta. She was a brilliant student in studies winning many scholarships. Later she took PG in chemistry from Rajabazar Science College. She is a trained classical dancer and was associated with theater since an early age. Initially, she wanted to become a chemical researcher or a pilot. But she debut television as an actress.

In 2003 she appeared in Jibon Niye Khela for Zee Bangla followed by Tithir Atithi, Tarpor Chand Uthlo, Sonar Harin and Jaya. She debut film field in 2004 though the movie was released only in 2012. She appeared in supporting roles in the first few movies. In 2009 Dam appeared in seven Bengali films of which most noted movie was Kaalbela, where she played the role of girlfriend of a young Naxalite leader.
