Pankaj Dheer Biography

Pankaj Dheer is an Indian actor, most successful with television serials. He is better known for his role as Karna in Mahabharata and Maharaj Shivdut in Chandrakanta. He also played the role of Sadashivrao Bhau in the TV series The Great Maratha produced by Sanjay Khan. This actor is originally from Kanpur. He has also worked in a few Bollywood movies in supporting roles, of which Sadak released in 1991 was one of the earliest. His son Nikitin Dheer is also an actor who appeared in Hrithik Roshan’s film Jodhaa Akbar and Shah Rukh’s Chennai Express. In 2006 Dheer established a shooting studio, Visage Studioz along with his brother Satluj Dheer at Mumbai. In 2010, he opened Abbhinnay Acting Academy in Mumbai. This acting school is headed by Gufi Paintal, his co-artist of serial Mahabharata. It was inaugurated by super star Akshay Kumar, who has worked together in six films including Akshay’s debut movie.

 

As lead hero, Pankaj’s debut serial was Dastak in 1993. Archana Puran Singh played opposite him in this horror serial telecasted in ZEE television. Kanoon is another noted serial of this actor where he played the role of a defense lawyer. Other noted serials include - Ek Safar Aisa Kabhi Socha Na Tha, Rishtey, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, Devon Ke Dev – Mahadev, The Great Maratha, Shobha Somnath Ki, Sasural Simar Ka, Yug, Harischandra and Rang Badalti Odhni. Now he appears in roles of father, father-in-law, uncle etc.

 

As a film actor, he has worked as soldier or police officer in numerous roles. He has also appeared in father’s role in recent movies. A few of his noted roles include – Ashaant, Soldier, Mr.Bond, Taarzan: The Wonder Car, Ikke Pe Ikka, Gippi, Badshah, Jagruti, Sanam bewafa, saugandh, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Zameen, Andaaz and Aashiq awara.
