P. S. Vinod Biography

P. S. Vinod is a well-known cinematographer associated with Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema since year 2000. He marked his debut with year 2000 hit Hindi film, Rhythm and his second film, Appu, released the same year was also well appreciated. He marked his Bollywood debut the following year with the flop film, Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat. But later he has done camera work of many Hindi films such as Tees Maar Khan, Striker, My Wife’s Murder, Musafir, David, Neal 'n' Nikki, Bullett Raja etc. Among Tamil films - Vikram Vedha, David and Aarambam are his noted works in the recent times. Rakta Charitra, Oopiri, Manam, Soggade Chinni Nayana, Dhruva etc are among his Telugu projects.

 

P. S. Vinod hails from Andhra Pradesh. He got graduated from the Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu. He started his career in ad industry before moving to films. After graduating from the film institute, he joined Santosh Sivan as an assistant cinematographer in the 1990s. He was then signed by director Vasanth for two Tamil movies in year 2000. Rhythm and his second film, Appu were released in a row, and both the works got noticed. After that Vinod got offers from different language films including Telugu and Bollywood.

 

Though he worked in Tamil, Hindi and a few Telugu films, he earned recognition through Telugu movies. He received Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer – South award for two Telugu movies - Manam (2014) and Oopiri (2016). His work in Tamil film, Vikram Vedha (2017) was also well appreciated. Super Deluxe, Hello and Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava are the films which released later. His works in Hindi movies also received appreciation, and he shot the very popular item song of Katrina Kaif, Sheila Ki Jawani for Tees Maar Khan.
