P. K. Abdu Rabb Biography

P. K. Abdu Rabb is an Indian political leader associated with Indian Union Muslim League, in alliance with Indian National Congress. A 5-time MLA he hails from Malappuram and is associated with state politics. He is the son of famous politician and former Deputy Chief Minister Late K. Avukader Kutty Naha.  In 2016 state assembly elections he contested from Tirurangadi constituency of Malappuram and defeated his opponent contestant Niyas Pulikkalakath of CPI by a margin of over 6000 votes. In 2011-2016 Oommen Chandy ministry, he served as the Minister of Education. He was elected from Tirurangadi Constituency. Prior to it he has been elected to state assembly in 1996 and 2001 from Tanur Constituency and in 2006 from Manjeri Constituency. Thus he has been successfully elected as MLA for 5 times.

This senior Muslim League leader was born in Parappanangadi, Malappuram on May 15, 1948. He was born into a political family. His father K. Avukader Kutty Naha served as Deputy Chief Minister in the Seventh Kerala Legislative Assembly (1982-1987) and has been a cabinet minister thrice since 1960s. Abdu Rabb too followed his father’s footsteps and entered political field. He completed Master's degree in English Literature. He is married to Nazeem K and the couple has four children.

He entered active politics with mid-1990s, and got his first ticket to state assembly in 1996. He contested the elections from Tanur Constituency and since then he has successfully contested all state assembly elections till now. He served as education minister in former state ministry. He is also a recipient of multiple awards for his career as a social worker and politician and has received awards including Shastri Seva Puraskar awarded in the year 2012.
