Oviya Biography

Oviya is an Indian actress and a model. She works in Tamil cinema industry. She was shot to fame after her role in the comedy Tamil film Kalavani in 2010 with Vimal. She was born on 29^th April 1991 in Trichur in Kerala in India. Her original name is Helen Nelson.

When director Sargunam approached her for the film Kalavani she was doing her Bachelor of Arts in English literature at Vimala College in Thrissur. She starred with Vimal in this film. This film gained her positive reviews and was a box office hit.

After her first film, she signed several offers and she played a guest appearance in the film by Kamal Haasan, Manmadhan Ambu. Though she played only a minor role in that film, she could get some exposure through this. Seeing her cleverness Kamal had promised give her a good role in his next film and this has given her a chance to act in the film Cloud Nine.

Her debut film was Appoorva in Malayalam. In the film Kalavani she did the role of beautiful village girl and the lover of Kazhavani. She spoke Thanjavur Tamil in that and to get trained, she was sent to Koothuppattarai. This film was nominated for Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress. She also did a small role in a Malayalam film.

Some of the films that she has appeared include Apoorva, Kalavani, Manmadhan Ambu, Puthumugangal, Muthukku Muthaaga, Kirathaka, Manushya Mrugam, Agarathi, Nagarbhavi, etc.

Tamil actress Oviya Helen's sudden exit from popular reality show has come as a grave shock for many. The lady has been the most popular contestant on the show which has Kamal Haasan as its host.

According to the media reports, Oviya was osuted from the show as she was apparently having mental health issues and even having said to have asked for a professional help.

The reports also suggested that Oviya was distressed with the behaviour of housemates towards her. However, post her exit from Bigg Boss, Oviya has revealed that she chose to walk out of the reality show as she couldn't control her feeling for Aarav. Oviya had earlier confessed her love for co-housemate Aarav. While initially, the young actor was said to be fine with Oviya's feelings, he started giving the actress a cold shoulder, which inturn annoyed Oviya.

In fact, according to a report published in Indian Express, Oviya was also quoted as saying, "I think I love Arav too much… I am not able to control it. That’s why I want to go." Well, Oviya's exit has come as a huge disappointment for the audience as the actresss had garnered a huge fan following and even affected the TRP of the show.
