Okram Bikram Singh Biography

Okram Bikram Singh is one of the leading cyclists from India, and his name is counted among top 5 cyclists of the country at present. This experienced cyclist from Imphal has made India proud through his achievements in track cycling. He played football till state level before he took to cycling. Since then he is fully associated with this sport. He came to spotlight for the first time in the 5th National Games, held in Manipur in February 1999. He participated in his first National championship held at Thiruvananthapuram in December 2000, in the U-16 age category. He has won 30 Gold medals, 15 Silver and 16 Bronze which include a few international achievements as well.

 

Okram Bikram Singh, best referred to as Bikram Singh was born on February 3rd, 1985 from Imphal, Manipur. Initially he was a footballer before he switched to cycling. He came to limelight for the first time during 5th National Games, which were held in Manipur in February 1999. Since then he has been a popular player of this game. He always wanted to be a national champion right from the beginning, and he dreamt to represent India at international tournaments. For that he worked hard and reached a position where he is right now.

 

He competed in the team sprint event at the 2012 and 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. He was initially employed in Indian Railways since 2008. Then he moved to BSNL in Dimapur Nagaland and worked as a Sports Assistant. He did a diploma in Sports coaching at NSNIS in Patiala, Punjab. 30 Gold medals, 15 Silver and 16 Bronze – is his total achievement in the career till now.
