Nyla Usha Biography

Nyla Usha is a Malayalam film actress, who shot to fame with the commercial hit of comedy film, Punyalan Agarbattis in 2013. She debut big screen at the age of 30 through Kunjananthante Kada, released in 2013 which earned her Asiavision Award for Best Debut in Acting. She was paired opposite Megastar Mammootty in her debut movie, which earned her critics’ appreciation. Now she has got two big projects, The Gangster opposite Mammootty and Vambathi opposite Fahadh Faasil. Before entering acting field, she has been a successful model, anchor, and radio jockey with Hit 96.7. She received Masala Award for Best Radio Presenter in 2012. Nyla married Rona Rajan in 2007 and the couple has one son.

She was born in Thiruvananthapuram on 25 March 1984. Gopakumar and UshaKumari are her parents. She schooled at Holy Angel's Convent and completed graduation from All Saints College. It was not an easy task for a married Dubai based radio jockey to enter movies. In her debut movie, Kunjananthante Kada she played the role of an unhappy wife and the husband’s role was played by Mammootty. As she is a modern girl, she had to make a lot of preparations to do the village type homemaker, Chithira. She started observing gestures and mannerisms of village ladies before doing this role. However the movie was a box office failure.

But her second movie, Punyalan Agarbattis released in November 2013 was a blockbuster hit and she became a star overnight. She was paired opposite Jayasurya and the movie was produced by the leading actor and its director, Ranjith Sankar. This satire comedy was one of the biggest hits of Malayalam in the recent times. She played the role of Jayasurya’s wife in this movie.
