Nutan Prasad Biography

Nutan Prasad was a popular Telugu actor who was associated with Tollywood for about 4 decades since early 1970s. Started his acting career with the play Naa Votu in Guntur, he later moved to film scene. He excelled in negative shaded roles. This veteran actor of Telugu screen is known for portraying the roles in Needa Leni Aadadi (1974), Bapu's Muthyala Muggu (1975) and Bapu's Rajadhiraju (1980), which made his position secure. Later his roles in Mogudu Kaavali, Khaidi, Aha Naa Pellanta, Patnam Vachina Pativratalu, Khaidi, Mantrigaari Viyyakandu, Adavi Donga and Muddula Chellulu were quite popular. He won the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Artist for Sundari-Subbarao (1984). He was also a recipient of NTR National Award in 2005.

Tadinada Varaprasad is his real name. He was born on 12 December 1945 in Kaikaluru of Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. Started off as a stage actor, he made his film debut through Andala Ramudu starring Akkineni Nageshwara Rao in 1973. After playing a few character roles, he came to limelight for the first time through 1975 film - Muthyala Muggu, where he appeared in a grey shaded role. Since then he received mainly negative roles. Bapu's Rajadhiraju (1980) was one of the landmark movies of his career. In the movie, he appeared as a Satan, which earned him appreciation. The song - "Kotta devudandi babu kotta devudandi” was also an instant hit.

In 1989 during a film shooting he became a victim of an accident which severely injured his backbone. The movie was Bamma Maata Bangaru Baata, when he was enjoying his career peak. This left him paralysed from the waist down and he quit movies. Yet he played guest roles in many movies later. He was associated with films and television as a dubbing artist later. He died in 2011 in Hyderabad after a prolonged illness.
