Nushrat Bharucha Biography

Nushrat Bharucha is a Bollywood actress known for the movies, Pyar Ka Punchnama, Kal Kissne Dekha and Akaash Vani. She debut with commercial hit - Jai Santoshi Ma (2006), followed by  Love Sex aur Dhokha (2010) and Pyar Ka Punchnama (2011), both commercially successful movies. In 2013, she played lead role in Akash vaani, with Pyar Ka Punchnama co-star, Kartik Tiwari which received both critical and commercial success. Her role as a nagging girlfriend in Luv Ranjan’s Pyar Ka Punchnama was well noticed. Vaaliba Raja is her upcoming movie, with which she is to debut Tamil screen. She is to work aside Santhanam, Sethu and Vishakha Singh in her Tamil debut.

 

Nushrat Bharucha was born and brought up into a Muslim family in Mumbai. She studied at prestigious Lilavati Podar High school and since schooldays she was active in theater. Her Bollywood career began in the year 2006 with a supporting role in Hindi movie titled ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ directed by Ahmed Siddiqui. This movie was a commercial hit. Then she appeared in another commercial hit movie, Love Sex aur Dhoka in which she played lead role opposite Anshuman Jha. The entire movie was shot on a digital camera and it became India’s first movie to be released in the found footage style.

 

It was ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama‘ that helped her to earn popularity. She worked aside a group of young actors - Kartik Tiwari, Rayo Bakhirta, Divyendu Sharma, Sonalli Sehgall and Ishita Sharma in this sleeper hit which ran 50 days. Nushrat has also acted in the YRF Television Series, SEVEN and has also appeared in several television commercials. Yet she feels cinema as the best medium to fully utilize one’s potential, as television restricts an actor to emote only from my face.
