Nirmiti Sawant is a popular artist associated with Hindi and Marathi entertainment industry, known for playing character and supporting roles, mostly comic ones. She is quite active in television, apart from movies and theatre. Kumari Gangubai Non-Matric – a popular daily soap made her a household name. She is indeed an influential name in Marathi film and theatre circle. As a stage actress she is best known for the comedy play, Jau Bai Jorat. Known to be the undisputed laughter queen, she has been a celebrity judge of comedy reality show Fu Bai Fu on Zee Marathi TV. She is associated with entertainment industry since mid-1990s.

Nirmiti hails from Mumbai. She was born in the year 1959. This versatile actress dons any type of roles. Yet she is popular with audience for her comedy timings and body languages, of course for comedy roles. She made her debut through super hit Marathi film ‘Bindhast’ in 1999. In the movie where only female artists worked, she played the role of a warden of a Girls’ Hostel; the role, which was most suited to her personality. Though she appeared in many movies later, only a few could explore the real talent of this actress. She earned success through theatre and television.

Film maker Mahesh Kothare gave her two memorable roles of her career - Gauri Shringarpure in ‘Khabardar’ and conservative and orthodox role Najuka Aatya in ‘Shubhamangal Savdhan’. She entertained audience in ‘Shubhamangal Savdhan’ for her screen presence and plenty of humour filled scenes. As a theatre artist, her performance was accepted by audience for ‘Jau Bai Jorat’ - a hilarious comedy, which turned a hit among drama lovers. Her hilarious comic performance in TV series, ‘Kumari Gangubai Non Matric’ earned her a lot of fans. Currently she appears in Jaadu Bai Zoraat on Zee Marathi.
