Niranjani Ahathian Biography

Niranjani Ahathian is a costume designer and fashion stylist, who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. She owns an online Boutique Manjal, exclusively customized for women. She is the daughter of film director Agathiyan. Her elder sisters - Karthika Ahathian is a TV anchor while Vijayalakshmi is a film actress. Film directors Thiru and Feroz are her brother-in-laws, married to her elder sisters - Karthika Ahathian and Vijayalakshmi respectively. Niranjani Ahathian has worked as costume designer in many Tamil movies such as Sigaram Thodu (2014), Kaaviya Thalaivan (2014 film) and Kabali (2016), and won praises.

Niranjani Ahathiyan hails from Chennai. She was born in the year 1990 as the third daughter of famous film director Agathiyan. Born into a family with strong filmy background, she too chose a similar profession. Niranjani Ahathian also designs costumes for movies, and has closely worked with her family members. She started off working as an assistant under some of the leading costume designers of south Indian film industry, before she began her independent career.

Niranjani marked her debut with Sigaram Thodu (2014). It was followed by Kaaviya Thalaivan, one of the best works of her career. She had to prepare and do research a lot to design costumes for the movie, originally set in pre-independent era. She received IIFA and Vijay Awards for work in Kaaviya Thalaivan, and very soon she turned a busy costume designer in the industry. She has worked with many high-end artists of the industry. She also worked on Rajinikanth starrer Kabali in 2016, for which she won Ananda Vikatan award given by the magazine. Pencil, Trisha Illana Nayanthara, Kathakali, Enakku Vaaitha Adimaigal etc are a few more works. She is currently working on Dulquer Salmaan and Ritu Varma starrer Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal.
