Niraj Gera Biography

Niraj Gera is a photographer and photojournalist based in Delhi. He is also a traveller, entrepreneur, motivational speaker and successful businessman. Many of his works have been exhibited in India and abroad, earning accolades.  He received an honorable mention in the 2016 International Photographer Award. He held his first exhibition at Indian August Gallery in 2013, followed by Arpana Caur Art Gallery in 2015 and 2017. His photographs were displayed at Ariano Film Festival, Italy and Blank Wall Gallery, Greece, both in 2017. His photos on acid attack survivors have earned him a lot of praises, particularly a picture showing the bond between a woman and daughter, both of whom had been attacked by acid by their own family member, woman’s husband.

 

Niraj hails from Delhi. He was brought up in the capital city where he completed his education. Later, he joined his family business of manufacturing confectioneries. Later he ventured into his own business, this time into export business. He launched Picasso Exports in the year 1999, which deals with temporary tattoos and henna. He developed an interest in photography after that, and joined Triveni Kala Sangam to learn the basic lessons of this art. Dr. O. P. Sharma was his mentor, under whom Niraj learnt a lot of things related to photography.

 

As a photographer he experimented with different themes and styles, portraits, street photography, travel photography and social documentary photography to mention a few. He also exhibited his works at art galleries. Sacred Transformation is one among his best works till now. Currently he is a faculty member of the NGO – Art of Living Foundation. He is a winner of CEPIC Award twice, and APA National Circuit 2018 most recently.
