Nimrat Kaur Biography

Nimrat Kaur is a successful Indian model. She is a film and stage actress. She became popular with music videos of Kumar Sanu and Shreya Ghoshal’s album – Tera mera pyar in 2005. She appeared in two of its videos – Tera mera pyar and Yeh kya hua and second video is a continuation of the first one. Later she appeared in many television ads and became a busy model. She has acted in theatre plays like Baghdad Wedding (2012), All About Women and Red Sparrow. Most recently, she appeared in Cannes’ festival when the movie, Lunch box was screened. Last year (2012) she appeared for the first time in association with Anurag Kashyap's production Peddlers. A few of her commercials are very popular, the last one being Cadbury’s.

Nimrat is the daughter of an army officer. She was born in Pilani, Rajasthan on 13 March 1982. She studied at Yadavindra Public School, Patiala. In 1994, her father was killed in a terrorist attack in Kashmir. Following this unfortunate incident, the family shifted to Noida and she later studied at Delhi Public School, Noida. She took a degree in commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce. It was during her college days that she associated with theatre. After studies, she moved to Mumbai where she started her career as a print model and theatre actress.

She got quick attention when she was featured in two songs of Kumar Sanu and Shreya Ghoshal’s album – Tera mera pyar. Later she got a lot of ad opportunities. Her acting career started in the year 2006 with the English movie, One Night with the King where she did a bit role. Her debut Hindi movie was Peddlers released in the year 2012, where she did supporting role. She also appeared in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana as Muskaan Khurana. Through the movie Lunch Box, she got the first lead role of her acting career. This movie is India’s official entry to Academy awards in the Foreign film category.
