Nikhita Gandhi Biography

Nikhita Gandhi is an Indian playback singer who has worked in Hindi and south indian films. She has worked on Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Bengali, and Kannada films. Jagga Jasoos song Ullu ka Pattha duet with Arijit Singh was a hit. She had also sung for Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Chef, Jab Harry Met Sejal, and Ittefaq. She is one of the most sought female singers of present generation.

 

She was born on October 2, 1991 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Gandhi is half-Bengali and half-Punjab. She had been in Chennai for her graduation. She had learnt Odissi dance and Hindustani music for almost 12 years. She was born in a mixed up family from Bengali and Punjabi in Kolkata. She moved to Chennai to do her dental studies, where she learnt at A. R. Rahman's K. M. College of Music and Technology. In 2012, she cut a Bengali album titled 'Kotha', a re-arrangement of Nazrul Geeti, songs written by renowned poet. In 2013 she marked her playback singing. "Ladio" from Shankar's Tamil film, I (2015) gave her first major breakthrough.

 

Some of her hit songs are "Raabta Title Song" from Raabta, "Ullu ka Pattha" from Jagga Jasoos, "Sachin Sachin" from Sachin: A Billion Dreams, "Beyond  The Clouds" from Beyond the clouds ,Wi Wi Wi Wifi from Singam 3. The hit song was Raabta crossed 55 million and has become a favourite amongst the youth. She was nominated for best playback singer (female) in Filmfare Awards and Mirchi Music Awards for the song "Ghar" from Jab Harry Met Sejal. She became the best play back singer for her Bengali song "Tomra Ekhono Ki" from Meghnad Badh Rahasya.
