Nikhilanand Panigrahy Biography 
Nikhilanand Panigrahy is a science writer and columnist, best known for popularizing science in the Odia language in the present times. He started writing columns for Oriya magazines and dailies since 1973, and is still active in the field of writing, for more than 4 decades. Popular Science is the genre of his writings in most cases, and has contributed his works to the literal world in the form of articles, short stories, novels, essays, Ramya Rachana etc. He has also authored a few works in English language. He worked in government service and retired as Director of Odisha State Bureau of Text Book Preparation and Production.
Dr. Nikhilanand Panigrahy was born on 20 December 1947 in Dhanantar belonging to Ganjam, Odisha. He was born into a Brahmin family, as the son of Padmanav Panigrahy and Annapurna Panigrahy. He grew up in discipline in his strict family, and his started his schooling at his village itself. Later he continued his education at Harihara High School, where he completed matriculation studies. He completed graduation in science with distinction in the year 1965. For Master’s in Physics he specialized in X-rays in Regional Engineering College, now known as National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He also completed his PhD, after researching on the subject, Solid State Physics.
Since young he got attracted towards science subjects, mostly physics. He also loved books on science since his childhood days, and was inspired a lot from scientists, writers and other eminent personalities. Later he published over 1500 research papers, apart from other publications. He also authored a few novels like Jatha Rabanasya Mandodari, Nahin Nahinra Bandhan, Radha Charit Adha Sata, Purbatan Pilati Jaha Kahe and Trikala.
