Nihira Joshi Biography

Nihira Joshi is an Indian singer associated with independent music and Bollywood music. She came to limelight for the first time in 2005 through singing reality show on ZEE TV - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005, where she finished at 5th position. She was also a member of Ismail Darbar's "Yalgar Ho" Gharana. Nihira has sung a few songs for Bollywood films such as Alag, Bunty Aur Babli, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love, 88 Antop Hill, Kill Dil and Marigold, apart from a few TV shows. Her version of E Re Pawan from Bemisal originally composed by R. D. Burman in collaboration with sarod player Abhishek Borkar is a lovely soft number. She also sang the theme song of Radio City radio station with Shaan.

 

Nihira Joshi was born in 1986 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She graduated from Mithibai College, Mumbai. She came to limelight for the first time after she participated in on ZEE TV - Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 at the age of 19. She became one of the top finalists of the show, which helped her to bag a few songs from Bollywood. She worked with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio in many movies later. Her voice was used as back vocals by the composers for the movie, Kabhi Alvida Na kehena.

 

"Dhadak Dhadak” from Bunty Aur Babli, "Sabse Alag" from Alag, "Raat Kahegi Daastan" from 88 Antop Hill "Mera Dil", "Babuji Dheere" from the film Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love,"Tan Man" from Marigold and “Bawre” and “Sajde” from Kill Dil are some of her recorded songs of Bollywood as a playback singer. She has won one ghazal based show on television - Aadab Arz Hai.
