Neha Bhasin Biography

Neha Bhasin is a successful Bollywood singer for chartbusters like Dhunki dhunki of Mere brother ki dulhan, You and me of Pyar impossible and Kuch khaas of Fashion. She is a successful singer of South Indian movies who has won music awards like Vijay Award for Best Female Playback Singer and has achieved multiple nominations as well. She was a member of the Indian pop girl group Viva who has delivered many successful pop albums.

 

Neha Bhasin was born on November 18, 1982 in Delhi. Her parents are Ashok Bhasin and Rekha Bhasin. She holds a degree in sociology that she took from Lady Shri Ram College for Women in New Delhi. From younger age, music was her passion and she attempted many music competitions as well. She joined Shiamak Davar's dancing school to get trained in dance and performance and Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan to learn classical singing.  

 

In 2001, she won Talent hunt show hosted by Channel V and it resulted in the formation of pop group – Viva. Other four winners were Seema Ramchandani, Pratichee Mohapatra, Mahua Kamat, and Anushka Manchanda. They launched their first self-titled album ‘Viva!’ in 2002. Their second album ‘Viva! Reloaded’, was their last album as well. They decided to do their own individual careers and became successful as well.

 

Neha Bhasin then stepped into playback singing with title track of the 2005 Hindi film - Bullet - Ek Dhamaka. After that she sang songs for leading composers like Anand Raj Anand, Aadesh Shrivastava and Salim-Sulaiman. In 2007, she sang her first Tamil song, "Pesugiren Pesugiren" from Satham Podathey. She won Vijay Award for Best Female Playback Singer for this song. After that she has sung songs in Telugu and Kannada as well. She has also won nominations for "Poraney Poraney" of Tamil movie, Vaagai Sooda Vaa and "Hello Hello" of Telugu movie – Dhada.

 

She has won Stardust New Musical Sensation Award – Female for Dhunki song along with achieving nominations from Screen Award for Best Playback Singer as well as Apsara. She has won her single Filmfare nomination for the song, Kuch khaas of Fashion. Her other hit songs include - Dil Ki Hai Tamanna of Force and Nasha of Daddy cool.
