Neeta Pillai Biography

Neeta Pillai is an actress associated with Malayalam film industry. She was introduced to big screen aside another newcomer Irin George for 2018 release, Poomaram, costarring Kalidas Jayaram. This youth musical campus film was well received by critics and viewers, though it was delayed release. The movie also marked the debut of Kalidas in lead hero role, though he has done child artist roles multiple times earlier. She has never studied in any campuses of Kerala, yet she made her campus role memorable through ‘Poomaram’.

Neeta loved movies since childhood, and watched a lot. Slowly she started dreaming to become an actress. But she doesn’t belong to a family with filmy background. Her ancestral home is in Thodupuzha. She is the daughter of Manjula and Vijayan, and also has one sister – Maneesha. Her childhood days were spent at Kochi, where her father worked as engineer. Later her father moved to Abu Dhabi. When he returned, the family settled at Thodupuzha. Her mother works as bank manager with Federal bank.

Neeta completed her school studies till Plus-2 from Ernakulam Girinagar Bhavan. She completed BTech from Amrita University of Bangalore, and took master’s degree in petroleum engineering from US. A brilliant student in studies, she earned a scholarship for her higher studies. While at US, she won one beauty contest. But she has not participated in cultural events or beauty contests while at hometown. She planned to do MBA in US and returned to hometown for a vacation. It was during that time she attended auditions for Poomaram, and she got selected aside a bunch of freshers. After the film shooting also, the ‘Poomaram team’ kept their friendship intact, by arranging get-togethers, sports and camps.
