Neeta Lulla Biography

Neeta Lulla is a successful costume designer and fashion stylist. She received National award for best costume designer for times, thus becoming one of the successful names in the film industry. She won it first time in the year 1991, alongside Kachins and LeenaDarufor the Bollywood movie – Lamhe. She won it second time for the beautiful costumes of Devdas in 2002. It was followed by Jodha Akbar in 2009 and Marathi movie, Balgandharva in 2012. She is popular for designing traditional Indian costumes for beautiful actress Aishwarya Rai, for all her movies with director Sanjay Leela Bansali – Hum dil de chukesanam, Devdas and Jodha Akbar. She is the costume designer of Rajinikanth’s upcoming big-budget movie – Kochadaiyaan. Earlier she has designed costumes for his movie – Sivaji.



Neeta belongs to Mumbai. She has spent more than 25 years in fashion designing and cinema with long association with Bollywood. As a costume designer, her most noted Bollywood movies are Chandni, Lamhe, KhalNayak, Jeans, Roop Ki Rani ChoronKa Raja, Taal, Kisna, Darr, Aaina, Khuda Gawah, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Kadhalan, KshnakKshnam, Devdas, Jodha Akbar, and many more. Beautiful chiffon saris she designed for Sridevi in Chandni became a trendsetter in the late 1980’s. Neeta Lulla has worked on over 300 films in more than 7 languages including some foreign films too.



Apart from movies, she has also worked for a few epic serials like Shivaji and Bajirao Mastani. Television commercials and one act plays are her other contributions. Most recently she has announced a Fashion school and it’s to be named as ‘Neeta Lulla School of Fashion’. She has received IIFA awards for the movies – Taal and Jodha Akbar.
