Neeraj Kabi Biography

Neeraj Kabi is a noted actor associated with Bollywood, theater and television. Though he is not quite familiar to film goers in 2015, he got noticed for playing two distinct roles. The first one is the male antagonist Dr Anukul Guha of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, where he was spotted playing varying roles and the second one is the pivot role of Shruti's father, Doctor Ramesh Tandon in the critically acclaimed investigation thriller – Talvar. The movie was based on the controversial ‘2008 Noida double murder case’, where Rajesh Talwar was the prime suspect and Neeraj Kabi enacted the role of the teenager’s father who was the victim. Konkona Sen Sharma played his wife in the movie.

 

Earlier in 2014, Neeraj got noticed for playing Mahatma Gandhi in Television series Samvidhaan: The Making of the Constitution of India created by Rajya Sabha TV. The television series was directed by Shyam Benegal. In 2013, he was seen as a Jain monk in the National award winning movie - Ship of Theseus. It was his debut movie. Known as a film actor, dancer, martial Artist and Thespian, he is a theatre artist who founded Theater group Pravah in 1996. He acted in "The last Vision", a National award winning film. After ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’ in 2007, he took a break from films.

 

As an actor, Neeraj did a lot of preparations and research works for the movie, Talvaar as it was a high profile case, based on the murder of a teenager – Arushi Talwar. Though he was offered for a role in Vishal Bharatwaj’s Haider, he couldn’t accept the role and he didn’t want to miss a chance for the second time.
