Neelu Kohli is a very popular screen mother of Bollywood movies and TV soaps. Neelu is best known for playing character roles. Regular with small screen shows, Mere Angne Mein, Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Love U Zindagi, Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage, Bhabhi, Khushiyaan, Naamkarann and Jamai Raja are among her most popular TV roles. She was also seen doing character roles in Bollywood films such as Houseful 2, Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Yeh Mera India, MP3 – Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, Style, Agni Pankh, Hum Tum Aur Ghost, Break Ke Baad, Khanna & Iyer, Dil Kya Kare, Tere Liye etc. Yet her popular small screen roles made her a household name among television audiences.

She is a Taurus, born on May 15 1964. She hails from Punjab and is currently settled in Mumbai. She was married to Naveen Kohli and has one daughter. They are separated now. She was seen in brief roles in Bollywood such as Dil Kya Kare in the late 1990s before she moved to television. As a television actress, she was initially seen in television series, Baabhi on Star Plus during 2002-2003. Later she was seen playing the character role of Billo in 2005 series, Yeh Dil Chahta Hai on Star One. Since then she is regular with character roles, both on big screen and small screen.

Her role as Sharmili Sinha in Star Plus ‘Mere Angane Mein’ made her a household name. Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage, Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon and Shastri Sisters are other popular roles. Before she joined film and television industry, she had a brief stint with theater, and her acting career spans to more than two decades. She is much fond of reading the novels. She likes to listen to soft classical music also.
