Nawassudin Siddiqui Biography

Nawassudin Siddiqui is a successful Bollywood actor of present times. He works as a comedy actor as well as character artist. He is most popular for his roles in the movies - Black Friday (2004), New York (2009), Peepli Live (2010), Kahani (2012), Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2 (2012), Manjhi (2013) and Talaash (2012). He has won National award special jury award for his performance in the movies, Kahaani, Gangs of Wasseypur, Dekh Indian Circus and Talaash in the year 2012. Thus he has proved himself to be a critically well acclaimed actor of Indian screen at present.

Among all these movies, most significant movie was Aamir Khan’s Talaash, the movie for which he won best actor supporting role in Zee Cinema awards as well as Star screen awards in the year 2012. He normally plays illiterate crooked person roles in most of his movies and he has been typecasted too, for such mannerisms and physical appearance. Gangs of Wasseypur 2 made him a successful figure and now he gets some meaty roles that play significant roles in the film script. His first lead role in a feature film was in Prashant Bhargava's Patang for which he received critical appreciation.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is born in Budhana, a small town of Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his graduation in science from Gurukul Kangri University in Haridwar, Uttarakand. He has also worked as chemist in a petrochemical company for a short while. He shifted to Delhi later where he worked as a watchman. During this time, he started working in plays and it resulted in his Bollywood entry too. He joined National School of Drama, New Delhi and completed the course as well.

His debut movie was Sarfarosh (1999) in a minute role. Then he worked for a few television serials as well. He did a short film The Bypass in 2003 and later did Anurag Kasyap’s Black Friday. His first lead role in a feature film was in Prashant Bhargava's Patang, which was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. After that he became a house hold name with the success of movies like Peepli Live, Kahani and Talaash.
