Naresh Chandra Agrawal Biography

Naresh Chandra Agrawal, also called Naresh Agrawal is an Indian politician from the state of Uttar Pradesh Pradesh, affiliated to Bharatiya Janata Party at present. He is a prominent figure in UP regional politics, who has served as Member of the Legislative Assembly from Hardoi constituency for seven terms. He has earlier associated with Indian National Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party during his political journey. In 1997, he formed Akhil Bharatiya Loktantrik Congress along with Jagdambika Pal, Rajeev Shukla and Shyam Sunder Sharma. He has served as Member of Rajya Sabha representing Uttar Pradesh, during May 2012 – March 2018, succeeded by Arun Jaitley.

 

Naresh Chandra Agrawal was born in Hardoi on 1st October 1951. He completed LLB from Lucknow University. As a politician he was affiliated to Indian National Congress till 1997. After that he started a new party along with a few members - Akhil Bharatiya Loktantrik Congress. The party joined All India Indira Congress (Tiwari), led by N. D. Tiwari which led another switched to form Loktantrik Congress. When Jagdambika Pal served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for 3 days from 21 February 1998 to 23 February 1998, Naresh Agarwal was named the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

 

After association with Samajwadi party for many years, he switched his political affiliation to Bharatiya Janata Party in 2018. Actress Jaya Bachchan later represented his seat in Rajya Sabha. Agrawal was a MLA for seven terms from 1980 to 2012 except 1985 to 1989, and hence a prominent member in regional politics. He represented Hardoi constituency in state legislative assembly for all these terms.
