Nara Lokesh Biography

Nara Lokesh is a well-known politician and businessman from Andhra Pradesh. He belongs to a very influential film-political family. He is the son of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Telugu Desam Party leader. He is the grandson of N. T. Rama Rao, cine personality and politician. Lokesh is also fully engaged with politics now, and currently an MLA and cabinet minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is holding the portfolios - Information Technology, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development. He was formally inducted to Telugu Desam Party in 2013, and got elected to state assembly for the first time in 2017. He is the nephew and son-in-law of Nandamuri Balakrishna.

 

Nara Lokesh was born on 23 January 1983 in Hyderabad, Telangana. He is born into a family with very strong background in cinema and politics. His father and grandfather have served as Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh. Nara too joined the same stream, though lately. He is the only son of Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Nara holds a Master’s in Business management degree from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. In 2007, Lokesh married his maternal cousin Brahmani, daughter of Indian film actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna.

 

In fact many of his family members have close connections with Telugu cinema and politics. Actor Nara Rohit is his cousin. Nara Lokesh was formally introduced to politics in 2013 at the age of 30. He was appointed to head of TDP's youth wing. When he joined legislative assembly and got inducted into cabinet in 2017, it became latest chapter of India's dynastic politics. The cabinet also witnessed 9 more new faces while giving rest to a few senior members.
