Napoleon Biography

Napoleon is a well-established and talented actor of Tamil cinema known for portraying powerful villain and character roles. He has worked in all south Indian movies and has done more than 100 roles. He has also played lead role in Tamil movies. He received Tamil Nadu state award for best actor for the movie - Ettupatti Rasa. Pudhu Nellu Pudhu Naathu in 1991 was his debut movie. Occasionally he acts in Malayalam movies as well – his most noted roles being Devasuram (1992) and its sequel, Ravanaprabhu (2002) where he portrayed one of the most powerful villains of present day Malayalam cinema - Mundakkal Shekaran. These two movies are among his most powerful roles of his acting career too. He is also an active politician and founder chairman of Jeeva Technologies. He has served as Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the Ministry of Manmohan Singh.

Kumaresan Duraisamy, better known by his stage name Napoleon was born in an agriculture family in Trichy in the year 1963. After college, he moved to Trichy and joined DMK Party. K. N. Nehru, Former minister for Transport in Tamil Nadu is his uncle. He contested in 2001 Assembly elections and won as MLA from Villivakkam constituency. However he lost in the 2006 elections to actor S. Ve. Shekhar of Mylapore constituency. He succeeded in the 2009 Lok Sabha election from Perambalur constituency and became Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in Union government.

About his film career – He happened to watch a Telugu movie Udaya which prompted him to become an actor. He debut big screen with Pudhu Nellu Puddhu Nathu in 1991 and has portrayed many noted roles including -Seevalaperi Pandi, Devasuram, Ravanaprabhu, Vattaram, Pokkiri and Dasavatharam. He founded Jeevan Technologies in the year 2000.
