Nandini Srikar Biography

Nandini Srikar is an Indian composer, playback singer and guitarist. She most recently sang the chartbuster hit - "Hone Do Batiyan" aside Zeb Bangash for Fitoor. Dhuaa from Shanghai, Harjaiyaan from Queen, Dil Mera Muft ka of Agent Vinod and Bhare Naina from Ra-One are her other popular Bollywood songs. She has also sung many popular Tamil tracks including the song - Aaha Kaadhal Konji Pesudhe of Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal (2013). She has also rendered her voice for Aalavandhan, Urchagam, Uyirodu Uyiraga and many other Tamil hits. She is associated with playback singing since late 1990s.


She was born on 10 August 1969. She started learning veena at the age of 3. Later she learned sitar and guitar. She pursued music only because of her interest, and she didn’t aim to enter music industry. After Master’s in Mathematics she worked in IT field for a while. But in 1997, when famous playback singer Hariharan happened to hear her voice, he recommended her name to music director Vidyasagar who gave her first break to playback singing. Thus 1998 Tamil film Uyirodu Uyiraga marked her singing debut as a playback singer. Her duet with KK, "I Love You” became popular, and it encouraged her to pursue a career in music.


She quit her job and later associated with ad jingles. She also worked with many leading musicians of south Indian film industry. She also read books on sound engineering and audio production, and composed music for jingles. In 2001, she was featured in Mahmood Khan's album Panah. She sang the song "Kattabomma Kattabomma" for Joot composed by Vidyasagar once again. A duet with Sonu Nigam “"For Your Eyes Only" for the movie, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and Alaap Jam and Jagado Dharana for the music oriented film – Morning raga were her earliest Bollywood works.
