Nandini Sidda Reddy Biography

Nandini Sidda Reddy is a Telugu writer from Telangana. He is best known as a poet best known for enlightening people of Telangana about their neglected language and culture, through his literal works. He played a key role in bringing Telangana literature and culture to light, which have been neglected by previous governments. In 2017 this prominent poet and litterateur was appointed as the first chairman for Telangana Sahitya Academy. His father Nandini Balasidda Reddy fought against the Razakars during Nizam’s regime. He has been awarded Nandi Award for 2010 for his song Nageti salallo na telangana for the movie Veera.

Nandini Sidda Reddy was born on 12 June 1955 in Bandaram Village, Kondapak Mandal, Siddipet District, present day Telangana. His father was a farmer associated with Telangana Armed Struggle activism. He owned left ideologies too. Nandini married Malleshwari and they had a daughter, Veekshana. He completed his Masters from Osmania University and later did MPhil and PhD on modern poetry. He taught Telugu at Siddipet Government Degree College and retired from government service in 2012.

He is a Member in the Telangana State Public Service Commission and also a member of the Telangana State Textbooks Review Committee. Nandini is the founder President of 'Manjira Rachayitala Sangham' and also the founder of 'Telangana Rachayitala Vedika' and 'Telangana Rachayitala Sangham'.

Some of his poem collections are Diviti (1974), Bhoomi Swapnam (1987), Sambhashana (1991), Pranahitha (1996), Oka Badha gadhu (2001) and Nadi Puttuvadi (2007). His collection of stories 'Chitra Kannu' and some of his popular songs are 'Telangana Matti’,'Telangana Baasha' and 'Telangana Paata'. His poem Nageti Chalalla written during the occasion of 50^th year of Indian independence was later used in the film, Poru Telangana.
