Namrata Singh Gujral Biography 
Namrata Singh Gujral is an American director, producer, singer and actor of Indian origin. She was born in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, but left India at a young age. She began her professional career with acting, and later excelled in field of direction and music also. A cancer survivor, a true inspiration for many, she fought with breast cancer in 2008 and Burkitt's lymphoma in 2013. In her professional career, she shot to fame scripting and directing Americanizing Shelley, she starred in the film, and also produced it in-house at her own studio, American Pride Film Group. She also carried out the distribution of the film. Americanizing Shelley (2006) is a lighthearted comedy about finding oneself in order to find love.
Namrata Singh Gujral was born on February 26, 1976 in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Her father is a Sikh and her mother, mother is part Tibetan and part Portuguese. Thus she owns multi-ethnic background, and it helped her a lot to pick up different languages and diversify her work in different fields. She left India at a younger age, and got settled in US. She graduated in 1998 from the University of West Florida. In 2002, she appeared in Bollywood film, Kaante starring Amitabh Bachchan. She played the role of Renu Mathur, a negative shaded character and a drug junkie in this movie.
Later many roles came in from Bollywood. But she refused to accept any. She focused in Hollywood, and also worked in television shows, The Agency, Family Law and Passions. She portrayed Iranian, Pakistani, Latin and German-Samoan characters for the show, and was never type casted as Indian. She has the ability to play these very differing roles with conviction. Gujral made her singing debut with the single Dancin' In The Clouds.
