Namitha Biography

Namitha is an Indian actress, model and an entrepreneur who acts in films of most of the South Indian languages like Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. She was born on January 27 1977 in Surat, Gujarat and raised at Mumbai. Her birth name was Namitha Mukesh Vankawala and her other names are Bhairavi, and Namitha Kapoor. She received the award of Miss Surat in the year 1998 and she took part in the Miss India pageant 2001.


She has finished her graduation in English literature. She likes traveling, watching the television and reading books. She is said to be an actress of great self-confidence. Her debut film is Sontham in Telugu with Aaryan Rajesh and this was directed by Sreenu Vitla. Her Tamil debut film is Engal Anna. Her other famous movies are Gemini, Sontam, Nayakudu, Chanakya, Englishkaran, Kovai Brothers, Aai, Bambarakkannaley, etc.


She is one of the tall and hefty heroines and very glamorous too. Though she started her career in Telugu film industry, she became very famous only after acting in the film Engal Anna with Vijayakanth. After acting in Telugu films Sontam and Gemini she could get a number of fans there. She also acted in an English film named Maya which was released in 2006. This was directed by Eric Manning. The Malayalam film Bus Conductor with Mammootty gave her credit. Her role as a judge in the famous dance show Maanaada Mayilaada on Kalaignar TV made her very popular. She worked as a judge with famous choreographers Brinda Master and Kala Master.


Her favorite heroes are Sarath Kumar, Kamal Hassan, Amitab Bachchan, Vikram and Vijayakanth. She likes the works of the famous author Sidney Sheldon. In October 2010 her fan in Trichy tried to kidnap her. She became very famous for addressing her fans as ‘machan’.
