Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy Biography

Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy is an Indian politician and the 16th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh since 2010. He belongs to Indian National Congress and won the state assembly elections for four times. When the Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah submitted his resignation, he came to his place.

He was born on 13th September 1960 in Hyderabad. His parents are N. Amarnath Reddy and Sarojamma. His father served as a minister in the cabinet of P. V. Narasimha Rao. He finished his schooling at Hyderabad Public School and did his intermediate from St. Joseph Junior College. Then he joined Nizam College and did his B. Com and acquired his LL.B. from University of Law, Osmania University.

He was the captain of Ranji team during his college days and cricketer Mohammed Azharuddin had played under his captaincy. He married Radhika Reddy and has two children Nikhilesh Reddy and Niharika Reddy. Santhosh Reddy and Kishore Kumar Reddy are his two brothers.

After the death of his father, he started his political career in Andhra Pradesh in the year 1989. He was the member of the Public Undertakings Committee and Assurance Committee. In 1989, 1999 and 2004 he was elected from Vayalpad constituency in the state assembly election. He lost in 1994 election and won from Pileru in 2009. He is a loyalist of YSR and was the chief whip of Congress Government for five years from 2004.

He was elected as the speaker of the 13th Andhra Pradesh assembly in June 2009. This post helped him to develop a good rapport with the Congress president Sonia Gandhi. He was chosen to be the new Chief Minister of the state in 2010.
