Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy Biography

Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy is a well-known politician and 4-time MLA from the newly formed south Indian state Telangana. He belongs to Indian national Congress. He is currently a Member of Telangana Legislative Assembly representing the constituency, Huzurnagar constituency. In Andhra Pradesh state legislature, before the formation of Telangana state, he served as an MLA and cabinet minister multiple times. He is one of the most prominent Congress leaders from the state and currently serves as the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee since 2015. As a cabinet minister of Andhra Pradesh, he held portfolios such as Minister of Housing, Weaker Selection Housing Programmes etc.

Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy was born on 20 June 1962 to his parents, Purushottam Reddy and Usha Devi. His native village is Tatipamula in Tirumalagiri of Suryapet district. He completed his graduation and also had a career as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. He has also served as an administrator in various government posts. After he joined politics, he became fully active in his political journey. Reddy has been elected thrice to the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly for three consecutive terms – 1999, 2004 and 2009 representing Indian National Congress. For the fourth term, he became a member of Telangana legislative assembly in 2014.

He got elected to state assembly for the first time in 1999 from Huzurnagar Assembly Constituency, followed by Kodad Assembly Constituency in 2004 and 2009 state assembly elections. He was appointed as Telangana State TPCC in 2015, after he got elected to state assembly in 2014. In N. Kiran Kumar Reddy's Cabinet, he served as a minister of Housing, Weaker Selection Housing Programme, AP Cooperative Housing Societies Federation and AP Housing Board. His wife Nalamada Uttam Kumar Reddy is also an active politician who currently serves as an MLA of Kodad Assembly constituency representing INC.
