N. J. Nandini Biography 
N. J. Nandini is a Carnatic musician from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala belonging to the younger generation of artists. She is indeed popular in the musical circle of capital city, where she is regular with her musical performances. As of now she has performed over 700 concerts within India and abroad. She is a recipient of Chembai Puraskaram, Isai Chudai title and the M S Subbalakshmi fellowship at a very young age. She was the first Runner Up in Jaya TV – Pothys Carnatic Music Idol for the years – 2011 and 2012, and the winner of Ragaratnam Yuva title from Carnatic Music Reality Show in Amrita TV.
N. J. Nandini hails from a musical family of Thiruvananthapuram. She was born in the year 1991 as the daughter of C Neelakantan and S Jayanthi. Her grandfather Vechoor N Hariharasubramania Iyer and uncle Vechoor C Sankar were musicians, while her parents are inclined towards music. Her brother, NJ Nandagopal is a singer and mridangam player. She started identifying ragas, and started singing small tunes when she was only three. Since young her music talents were nourished by her parents and she was given the best guidance as well. They took her to almost all music concerts happened in the city, and it helped the young Nandini a lot in the future.
Along with her musical journey, she remained a brilliant student in academics as well. She is the first rank holder of higher secondary (Plus – two) exams and she also secured first rank in Master’s in Music. She is currently pursuing a PHD in Music. Apart from performing live in concerts, she has also appeared as a contestant in many singing shows on Malayalam and Tamil TV channels. She was most recently honoured with Mavelikkara Prabhakara Varma Smaraka Yuva Sangeetha Puraskara in Mavelikkara in 2016.
