N. F. Varghese Biography

N. F. Varghese was a noted actor of Malayalam cinema, known for portraying negative and character roles. He has also appeared in a few television serials. Though he played minor roles in the early 1990’s and was active in Doordarshan serials, Akaashadooth released in 1993 proved to be the breakthrough movie of his career. Though he has done bit roles in movies earlier, Akaashadooth was his real film debut. With this movie, he emerged as a successful villain of Malayalam movies. He passed away in 2002 during his middle ages due to cardiac arrest.

He was a mimicry artiste before donning roles in Malayalam films. In a career spanning to about 15 years, he completed over 100 movies. Apart from Akashadooth, Patram released in 1999 is his most memorable role, where he played the role of Patram. Sundarapurushan, released in 2002 was his 100th film. He passed away when he was at the peak of his career. Phantom, Onnaman, Nadanam etc were his last releases and those movies were running at theater when he passed away. This actor is known for his powerful voice and spontaneous acting, particularly in the negative roles.

He was born in 1949. He reached movies while he was working at a private firm. He was active in mimicry field then, while his entry to cinema happened in the late 1980’s. Noted film director duo – Siddique_Lal were his co-artists in his mimicry troupes at Kochi. He was mostly associated with Kalabhavan, Kochi. He also played bit role of an office staff in Ramji Rav Speaking, Siddique_Lal team’s debut movie. Yet his real break to movies came through Sibi Malayil’s blockbuster hit – Aakashadoop, where he portrayed Keshavan, the antagonist’s role. Earlier itself, he had played some noted roles in Doordarshan serials like Michealinte Santhadhikal, Dr. Harischandra and one detective series, where he played the role of detective (main actor).

He felt severe chest pain while he was in his farm at Uliyannoortried. He drove the car himself and hit a wall. After that a few people took him to nearby hospital. But he passed away before reaching the hospital.
